New from Nepal

Upon return from Kathmandu CHAUTARA shows a number of fine new works from artists such as Saroj Kushwaha, Bidhata K.C., Suraj Sainju, and senior artists Uma Shankhar Shah and Dr. Seema Shah. Also shown were some new works on canvas by artist Chirag Bangdel which sold immediately.

Young Saroj Kushwaha is represented with two wonderful large-size works of his very minimalistic zen-like "apple series" paintings. Bidhata K.C. shows an intriguing semi-abstract landscape from her artist trek to Manaslu. Suraj Sainju is represented with a small ink drawing and the eminent artists Uma Shankhar and Dr. Seema Shah are showing their characteristic highly intricate etchings.

The opening on 6 April 2008 drew a small crowd with a surprisingly high number of sales.
